We work through these steps with our clients:

Get to Know Your Business:

Each session begins with an initial meeting (by telephone or in person). In this meeting we develop an understanding of your business and industry -- how you work, how you are unique, what you are currently doing to promote yourself, and what is newsworthy about what you do.

Develop a Media List:

We then research your industry through publications, books and the Internet to unearth potential story ideas that can be developed into articles. We also research trade publications and develop a media list of those most likely to publish articles about your business.

Generate Story Ideas:

Together we develop several story ideas to pitch to publications on our media list. We generate ideas that are newsworthy (and likely to be of interest to editors), and base them on the messages you want to communicate to your target audience. We also devise strategies that will encourage prospects to contact you once they have read your articles. Once you've approved a list of article ideas we are ready to start developing "query letters" that will be pitched to editors on our media list.

Pursue the Press:

With several article ideas in hand we approach selected publications on our approved media list. Once we get a commitment to publish, we will notify you to make sure you are in agreement before we start writing the article. An article typically requires three revisions (drafts) before it's ready to publish. The first draft goes to you for feedback, fact checking and editing. The second draft will be fine tuned with the editorial department of the publication. The third draft usually sees publication.

In the News!

Depending on individual publication deadlines, your first article will usually be published from 3 to 6 months after we start working together. After articles appear in print, we will arrange for reprints of articles for inclusion in your marketing materials.
